“Type as Portrait”

REQUIREMENTS:
1. 8.5 x 11 page size.
2. CMYK or RGB
3. 1 portrait using Line
4. 1 portrait using Shape and Form
5. 1 portrait using Value

DUE DATE:

November 15th.
Post original photos as well finished projects.

DESCRIPTION:

The student will create 3 Portraits using the Adobe Illustrator font tools. The first portrait will emulate line. The line can be expressive, descriptive, implied, or directional. You can use contour or gesture. The second portrait represents Shape and Form. Try using negative and positive space in this portrait. The last portrait is Value. Use pattern, emphasis, and space to help create the tones.
The rules are the student must use the text as text and not turn the text into outlines. The student can re-size the fonts to any size but must not stretch or deform the font in any way. You may rotate, change the spacing or change the direction of the text (horizontal/vertical).

Learn how to properly using the font tools.
Learn how to use type to form lines, shapes, and value.
Learn how to create a portrait by using a photo as reference
